Far too many neurodiverse children and/or those with SEND struggle with confidence and self-esteem. As both a Mother of neurodiverse, home-educated children and an education professional I have sadly seen a lot of this. I am passionate about supporting these young people and helping them to embrace and celebrate the incredible ways their brains work. I feel strongly that creative education can help these young people to develop a whole range of skills including self-expression, motor skills, critical thinking, communication, focus/concentration, perseverance, collaboration, resilience and confidence. Art is a powerful tool which allows children to communicate their feelings and ideas without words.

I hold an MSc in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Wellbeing, with one of my major research projects focusing specifically on the ADHD brain. I have over ten years’ professional experience working with neurodivergent children and young people and those with SEND, particularly individuals with diagnoses of ASD, ADHD/ADD, Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) and eating disorders. In my previous role as a residential Housemistress, I held in loco parentis responsibility for the girls in my care, including a number of young people receiving support from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). This gave me extensive experience of supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional, emotional and mental health needs.

CreatEd’s projects and workshops are always SEND and neurodiverse affirming. Please do get in touch if your child/ren require any specific arrangements or resources to access the learning.
